 Reading
|
The Basic Skills Reading Program is designed to support the
classroom reading curriculum. Within the small group setting,
reading skills and strategies are reinforced in a comfortable environment.
A self-selected book is sent home each night to provide
extra practice in reading.

Writing
|
There is a critical connection between reading development and writing.
They work to support one another. Therefore, students in Basic Skills
will have the opportunity to develop their writing skills in connection
with reading.

Mathematics
|
The Chicago Everyday Mathematics Program is based on repeated exposure
of concepts. Each topic is introduced at a simple level, increasing in
difficulty until mastery is achieved. It ensures repeated exposure to
each mathematical concept throughout the year. The Basic Skills Math
Program reinforces classroom instruction in math.
