SNACK POLICY
There is a "working snack" every morning. "Working snack" is a time where students can eat their snack while continuing to work on their current classwork. Snacks should include healthy food such as fruits and vegetables.
Birthday treats are welcome. If your child would like to bring in a healthy food treat, we can celebrate during the morning or during lunch. For healthy food options, please look at the PTO webpage for ideas. http://www.usrpto.org/healthybirthdaytreats.html

TESTS AND QUIZZES
Students are given the opportunity to correct some of their tests and quizes to earn back half credit for lost points. There is no minimum grade needed to do this. A corrected answer is worth half of its original value. Study guides will be given to the students for some of the tests given. We will prepare in class for tests, and students will be expected to prepare nightly for an upcoming test, once it has been announced. Signed tests are to be returned the next day with or with out corrections.

HOMEWORK
Homework is a way of assessing a student's understanding of concepts learned in class. The students are graded on the number of turned in assignments. If an assignment is late or missing, it is recorded and the student has the following night to make up the assignment. Of course, students absent due to illness will be given the necessary time to make up missed assignments. Students are allowed three late assignments in a subject area per marking period with out it reflecting in their grade.
When we copy down homework at the conclusion of the day, there will be times that all unfinished classwork becomes homework for students. Students are expected to record these personal items in their assignment books, and to complete them by the next morning.
TARDINESS/ ABSENCES
Students should arrive to school at 7:55am. If a student arrives after 8:05am, he/she will be marked absent. If a student arrives after 8:05am, he/she has to go to the nurse to get a tardy slip.
If a student is absent, a folder is compiled of the day(s) assignments, homework and any notices. If the student is absent for a period of time, or if you wish the folder to be sent home, please email me at jmarcell@usrschoolsk8.com first thing in the morning.
