Procedures

BEFORE SCHOOL

While you are waiting patiently to come into the classroom, you are expected to be seated in line outside. Please stay in our designated area. Follow the directions of the teachers on duty.

WHEN THE BELL RINGS

When the bell rings, please find your seat, unpack your belongings, get your reading log out and fill out your planners. This is also the time for you to get your pencils sharpened for the day and use the restroom. After your planner is filled out, please start on the morning activity.

PLANNERS

Write down your assignments and upcoming tests in your planner daily. Check off the assignments that you have completed for homework. Talk to your parents and show them the assignments you completed each evening. Your parents should sign your planners indicating that they have seen them each night.

HOMEWORK POLICY

I believe homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping you make the most of your experience in school. I give homework because it reinforces what has been taught in class, prepares you for upcoming lessons, and helps you develop self-discipline, responsibility, and organizational skills.

Designate a time and find yourself a quiet homework area to complete your assignments each evening. If an assignment is not completed, you are to sign the chart the next day in class. Take a slip, fill it out, and staple it to your assignment pad for your parents to sign and return.

READ AND RESPOND

Please read each evening for at least 25 minutes. Record your reading in your reading log. Your reading log needs to be in class each day as we will record our class reading time as well. I will ask you to respond to your reading in your reader's notebook. Let's see how many books we can read this year!

SNACK

You may eat a working snack in the afternoon. It should be a healthy snack.
