Classroom News

The Third graders are currently learning about overlapping and illusion of depth by working on a still life drawing. They are also working with highlight, shadow, and using their color blending skills. They will be using liquid glue to outline their drawing, and when dry, use soft chalk pastels to add color and shading.

The Fourth grade classes are learning about the tradition of heraldry and using this fun topic to also learn about monochromatic colors and complementary color pairs. They are designing two medieval shields, using the traditional field divisions, and incorporating their own symbols to represent themselves. They will then assign one color theme to each and add color accordingly. We are using colored pencil and metallic markers to complete this project.

The Fifth graders have begun work on Ralph Masiello's dragons. After looking at Mr. Masiello's art, students chose a dragon from his dragon drawing book. Students may alter them as they wish.

Finished pencil drawings will be outlined with thin ink markers and then color will be applied with watercolor pencils for a painted effect.
