Classroom Procedures

Absentees

Please call the attendance office at extension 6376 if your child will be absent. Notify the school in advance if your child will be absent due to a vacation.

 Tardiness

If your child is late, please have him/her go to the nurse for a late pass before reporting to class.

 Birthdays

If you would like to, on or near the day of your child's birthday, you may send in a healthy treat for your child's birthday.  Drinks are not needed.  Passing out treats outside the classroom is discouraged.

 Clothing

There will be daily outdoor recess after lunch unless it is raining. Send your child in with warm attire (gloves, hats, sweaters) during the cold months of school.

 Labeling

Labeling clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes and personal items is strongly recommended.

Notes

If your child is going home a different way than usual, please send in a note.  If your child’s dismissal plan changes during school hours, please do not email me this information as I may not be able to check my email until after school hours.  Instead, call the office and they will notify us of the change.

Snacks

Please supply your child with a healthy snack every day. Don't forget to send in a snack on days when lunch is provided.  Also, remember to pack your child a spoon or fork if one is needed.

Medications

All medications should be given to the health aid if taken during school hours.

Folders

Your child has a Take-Home folder.   Please check this folder every night for homework, notes and other important papers.   Note should be taken out of the folder each night to avoid clutter and confusion.  If the folder is lost or ruined, please replace it immediately.

Homework

The primary purpose of homework in second grade is to encourage your child to be a responsible person and to reinforce concepts taught in class. Homework is always due the following morning unless otherwise instructed.

Visitations

All visitors must report to the office if you wish to communicate with your child. If you are dropping off lunch, student work, library books or any other item, leave it in the office for your child to pick up at a convenient time. This procedure avoids classroom interruptions.

Report Cards

A report card will be sent home three times during the school year.

1. December 14th

2. April 7th

3. The last day of school
