Math: We are working on Unit 10: Decimals and Place Value. The second graders are reviewing notation and equivalencies for money amounts. The students are comparing prices, estimating costs and making change. Second graders are reinforcing math concepts taught this year and preparing for the third grade!

Everyday Math Letters

Reading Workshop: Our new reading unit is called, "Readers Reflect and Plan for Future Reading." The second graders will be reflecting on their growth as readers and setting goals for their future reading. Students will make plans for how they will achieve their reading goals.

Spelling: Students are reviewing the spelling patterns taught in the second grade. They will be assessed to see if they retained their knowledge of the spelling patterns. The spelling program will continue in the third grade.

Writing Workshop: Second graders are publishing their pieces on a special people. The students will read their pieces to another class to celebrate their good work as writers! The second graders will reflect on their writing this year. Students will think about what they did well and what they can do better.

Science: The second graders are learning about organisms. We started this unit by planting seeds. The students are recording their observations on their seeds in their science journals. The children will observe organisms in a terriarium and an aquarium next! Second graders were also treated to a special science assembly presented by the Liberty Science Museum.
