Absentees Call the school if your child will be absent. Notify the school in advance if your child will be absent due to a vacation. Tardiness Your child will be marked late after 8:05. Please send your second grader to the Attendance Office to pick up a late pass, if he or she is tardy. School begins promptly at 7:55! Birthdays Invitations can be handed out in class only if the whole class is invited. On the day of your child's birthday, please send in a healthy treat. Drinks are not needed. Clothing There will be daily outdoor recess after lunch unless it is raining. Send your child with warm attire (gloves, hats, sweaters) during the cold months of school. It is a good idea to dress your child in layers. Labeling Labeling clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes, and personal items is helpful. Notes If your child is going home a different way than usual, please send in a note. Snacks Please supply your child with a healthy snack every day. Milk Money If you did not purchase milk, please supply your child with a drink. Medications All RX's should be given to the health aid if taken during school hours. Folders Your child has a homework folder. Please check the folder every day for important papers. If the folder is lost or ruined, please replace it immediately. Homework The primary purposes of homework in second grade are to encourage your child to be a responsible person and to reinforce concepts taught in class. Homework is always due the following morning. Visitations All visitors must report to the office and sign in.
