Writer's Workshop

Our current unit is on Personal Narratives and Label Books we have been busy writing a class label book as well as our own individual label books! We will soon be publishing and celebrating our books with Mrs. Barone's class!

Show your child the many ways that you write: lists, journal, letters, poems & notes etc. Encourage them to do the same.

    To LOOK for: There will be Open Circle Updates coming home. Please reinforce the skills learned in our lessons at home too!

    Encourage your child to use the vocabulary and skills that we learn in Open Circle in your daily lives at home.

General Information

* Class Parents:

* Practice zipping, buttoning, and tying all year with your child

  • * Label backpacks, lunch boxes and coats etc.

    * Pack your child with a healthy snack and lunch every day. It is strongly encouraged Mrs. Vernon and the teachers and is an expection throughout the school. Thank you.

    *Please include a napkin along with your child's snack & lunch- THANKS - it helps keep the crumbs and germs away. Don't forget a seperate drink too.

    * Reinforce the correct pencil grip with your child. You will be getting a Handwriting Packet at Curriculum Night to assist you in this area

The 5 Senses

We have been conducting experiments in our school greenhouse facility for each of the 5 senses!

We'll be visiting the Learning Habitat this fall to: explore, observe, record & share what we each notice about this season compared to summer.

Practice the formation of all letters - PARENTS: use the Handwriting packet that you will get on Curriculum Night to encourage proper pencil grip and letter formation with your child.
