Absentees- Please call the school's attendance office (Mrs. Donadio at ext. 6376) if your child will be absent due to illness. If your child will be absent due to a vacation or a religious holiday, please notify the school in advance.
Please know that any classwork or homework that will be missed if you are on a vacation will not be given to you prior to you leaving as it is school policy. The work will be completed by your child upon return and any notes will be collected and given to you then as well
Tardiness - The school day begins at 7:55a.m. Children will be marked tardy if they arrive after 8:05 a.m. If your child arrives after that time, please escort him/her to Mrs. Donadio's attendance office for a late pass.

Changes in Transportation - Each child has a regular dismissal schedule that the school and I are aware of. If for any reason this schedule changes, please send a note stating how or to whom your child should be dismissed. If no written note is received, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation.

Labels- Labeling clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes, snack and personal items is very helpful. When Sending in checks for the PTO, office or SCHOLASTIC Book Club it would be beneficial to me if you place it in an envelope and clearly label its contents and your name.

Medications- All medications should be given to the nurse if taken during school hours.

Birthdays - As your child's birthday approaches, I will send a note home to you confirming that you will send in a treat on his/her special day. We have 18 students although the birthday child enjoys giving the treats to the teacher and the para as well as the principal. Keep in mind that the celebration is just for the class. Please make sure that the treat is a simple finger food that does not require cutting or slicing. Beverages are not encouraged, thanks. Please send in only Healthy treats as it is a schoolwide request. Kindly leave the treats with Mrs. Finn at the main office any time before 10:00 am. Invitations for home parties should not be distributed in school unless the entire class has been invited. Summer Birthdays : For those children who celebrate a summer birthday, we will arrange to celebrate on an individual day in the month of June.

Homework and Notices - Your child's take-home folder should come home to you every weekday afternoon and return to school every weekday morning. This special folder has been provided so that notices and work can travel neatly. All notes for the teacher, office, PTO and such must come to school in the "Notes" section of the folder. Your child checks this pocket when they arrive to class before placing it away for the day. Remind your child to do the same once they come home. Please make it a part of your child's daily routine to pack and unpack their own backpack in front of you (with your help and guidance). Ask your child to review their work with you when it is still "fresh" in their minds! They are so proud of their work and want to share it with you.

Snack - Please send in a healthy snack to school with your child every day. Please clearly differentiate your child's snack from their lunch by labeling it "snack." This eliminates confusion for both you and your child at this time. Thanks!

Parent Participation - Throughout the school year there will be a variety of special school activities. Your participation makes your child feel important and sends the message that you value school. Scheduled events such as: Halloween Party, Thanksgiving Feast, Holidays Around the World, Valentine's Day or our End of the Year party are mainly organized by the class mothers. Please sign-up on Curriculum Night to become involved or contact our class mothers to further inquire about our upcoming celebrations and field trips. You will help to make these events a fun and successful experience for the children!

Guest Storyteller The guest reader will have the opportunity to come in and read to the class. A sign-up sheet will be available during Curriculum Night in the classroom. I encourage one parent per child to sign up for the year this way all children have the chance to have their parent visit the classroom. Thanks.

* I will be contacting you at the beginning of the particular month that you signed up for to set up a specific date and time that works for you and the class.

Visitation - All visitors must report to the main office to sign in prior to visiting your child's classroom to obtain a visitor's badge. If you are dropping off lunch, class work, library book etc., please leave it with the secretary for your child to pick up at a time convenient to the classroom teacher. This will avoid classroom interruptions.
