Classroom Procedures

Arrival: School begins at 7:55. If your child arrives earlier tell him/her to line up against the wall by the classroom to let the traffic go by. Children may not enter the classroom until the door has been opened. Tardiness: If your child is late to school (after 8:05) please send your child directly to the attendance office for a late pass. Absentees: Please call the school if your child will be absent( ext.6376). Notify the school in advance if your child will be absent from school due to vacation. I will hold your child's work until his/her return from vacation. It will not be available for your child prior to your trip. Backpack: Send your child to school with a backpack each day. It helps to organize work and parent-teacher correspondence. Folders: Check your child's folder every day. Please send all correspondence through the folder as the children and I check them daily. Homework: Homework is given Monday through Thursday. The homework is important because it reinforces concepts taught in class. Homework also encourages your child to be responsible. Homework is due the following morning unless indicated otherwise. Correspondence: If you need to contact me you can either write me a note, e-mail me at jlevitt@usrschoolsk8.com or phone me at 201-961-6300 ext. 2104. If you need to contact me in an emergency after school hours, the class mother's have my home number. Dismissal: If your child is going home different than usual, please send a note stating how or to whom your child should be dismissed. Snack: Please send in a nutritious snack. This is vital for growth, development and energy. Labeling: Label all clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes and personal items. Medications: All medications should be given to the school nurse if taken during school hours. Birthdays: Sorry, NO PARENTS for school celebrations. You may send in a healthy treat for the class. Invitations may be handed out only if the entire class is invited. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in the Spring. Guest Reader: You can sign up to come in and read a story to the class.
