Our goal in the art room is to provide a noncompetitive and nonjudgemental environment for students to explore and develop skills while they are having fun!! There is enough structure in the program to ensure accomplishment, and enough freedom to allow for individuality and creative expression.

WELCOME BACK!!

Junior Kindergarten

September

Junior Kindergarten started the year off reviewing shapes and colors. They have been practicing cutting and gluing neatly. Students will be learning about their primary colors and how we mix them to get our secondary colors.

Kindergarten

September

Kindergarten is starting the year off learning about line and discussing primary and secondary colors. We have learned about the "horizon line" which is where the "sky meets the ground." The Kindergarteners made a fall collage showing their horizon line and incorporating fall trees and other details.

First Grade

September

First Grade will start off art learning about various watercolor techniques. They will get to use these skills to create watercolor fall trees. Look for these wonderful fall paintings in the first grade wing.

Second Grade

September

Second grade started the year off studying Georgia O'Keefe and her love for depicting nature. We examined her tendency to enlarge her subject and study it close up. We focused on many of her flowers and the beautiful colors and simple style. The second graders studied leaves and using oil pastels blended the warm fall colors to create a beautiful effect of an enlarged fall leaf.
