Reading
Basic Skills is a program in which we support the reading, and math instruction in the classroom. Repitition and extra practice encourage success.
Welcome to Basic Skills! The Basic Skills program is designed to support the classroom reading curriculum. Students work on reading skills and strategies within a small group setting.
First Grade Reading
Recipe for Reading is the program used to teach correct letter formation and sound/letter correspondence.
Students will build their sight vocabularies by the use of games and flashcards.
Students will learn how to blend words and use other reading strategies to figure out unknown words.
Second Grade Reading
Students will be focusing on three major components of reading- fluency, expression and comprehension.
Students will review phonics rules using the Open Court program and work on learning reading strategies in addition to phonics.
